Letter from Sally Jeppson

Hello! My name is Sally, and I’m proud to be one of PPRV’s board members. I wrote this letter to encourage PPRV fans to consider becoming a Sustaining Donor. Having worked with a number of non-profits over the years, I have come to realize that sustaining donors are crucial to the success of any organization. Knowing that financial support is consistently arriving and fueling vital programs, events, wages, and needs is incredibly reassuring.

PPRV is a young entity, but I know our impact extends throughout - and beyond - our Southern Oregon community. This vital work to preserve pollinators, advocate for the native plants that support them, and educate all ages about their importance is accomplished because of our enthusiastic volunteers and dedicated staff.

This beautiful region we call home isn’t exactly affordable, but PPRV is proud to offer a living wage to our three employees. In fact, we are seeking funding for a fourth employee to help with outreach and communications! Our budget is funded with grants, sponsorships, fundraising events, and donations. Grants are usually earmarked for programs, like the important From Fires to Flowers Pollinator Gardens program, or our Pollinator Pals youth education program, but we still have the basic costs of doing business. Benefits, rent, insurance, utilities, supplies, etc., are ongoing costs that can be less attractive to foundations. Nevertheless, to operate, we must pay these expenses.

Some organizations receive operating funds via memberships; at this time, PPRV does not. So, if you are reading this, I know you are a PPRV advocate, and I invite you to become a supporter! If you already donate - THANK YOU!

Would you consider becoming a Sustaining Donor? I think of this as painless giving— you don’t have to worry about sending a check or remembering PPRV at the end of the year. It’s easy; visit our website here Become a Sustaining Donor and choose the amount you wish to give and how often, and then don’t worry about it. Of course, you can make changes anytime.

Personally, I think about all the wonderful programs PPRV provides: From Fire to Flowers, Pollinator Pals, Habitat Academy, Rogue Buzzway, Native Plant Nursery and Demonstration Garden, and I’m more than willing to give up a monthly night dining out, a weekly cappuccino, or a new gadget I don’t really need, to help PPRV continue its good work. Especially in these challenging times.

I’ve seen the thrill of children witnessing the magic of butterfly metamorphosis, and the joy of gardeners discovering that incorporating native plants into their yards enhances the overall landscape. I love that PPRV is helping to support the vibrant transformation of urban environments into pollinator gardens that come alive, all thanks to the support of our generous community.

Need another reason to become a Sustaining Donor?
How about a cool sticker and bragging rights as
a Bumble Booster, Flutter Fan, or Pollinator Protector!

Thank you. Your support means so much.
